My music career first began whilst I was still at school, when I was appointed as arranger and assistant director for one of the school's orchestras. From 1998-2006 I studied piano to Grade 8 with Barbara Springthorpe1, and played in a masterclass by Richard Meyrick2. I was also filling regular spots during this time in various ensembles, turning my hand readily to classical, contemporary and jazz styles. Performances ranged from concert halls and theatres to smaller venues both at home and abroad.

Upon the completion of my A Levels, I began studying music composition at Coventry University as a student of Robert Ramskill3, and received tuition from Paul Leddington Wright4, Julian Hellaby5, Christopher Hobbs6 and Marcus Cornall7. I received the Performing Arts Scholarship for each year of study and graduated with Honours in 2009. Whilst at University, I supplemented my studies by singing tenor with St Michael's Singers8, a choral society based at Coventry Cathedral, including regular concerts in Coventry, Westminster Cathedral in London and across the UK, as well as participating in the New Hymn Makers recordings9

Following my graduation, I moved to Brighton where I held a position as instrument tutor at the Sussex Academy of Music10, teaching both at the Academy and peripatetically in schools. Having now also achieved Grade 8 in Music Theory, I undertook a Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in Instrumental Teaching, which I attained in 2013.

Since moving north, I have been working as an independent music professional, providing tuition for piano and music to people of all ages across York, together with performances as both an individual and as part of a group. As a member of Gateway Church11 in Acomb, I also directed Gateway Community Choir12 from 2015-2018, together with occasional other ensemble works and collaborations.

Alongside a busy teaching practice, I also take bookings for piano performance and music direction. I  am committed to regular CPD through courses and certifications, and self-directed study.
